Baby Showers Galore

I have amazing friends! As soon as we announced that we were adopting I was shocked at how many people offered to throw me baby showers. We've only lived in Louisville barely over a year and a half and have no family here so I wasn't really expecting much. But boy was I mistaken! Baby showers were always fun, but a constant reminder to me of what I didn't have and wanted so desperately. I would never let myself imagine what my baby shower would look like or be like. It just wasn't something I thought about...ever.
So when I showed up to my first baby shower everything just felt so surreal! I remember thinking "this can't be real" as I was opening up all the adorable gifts. Everyone was so excited and wanted to know all the details of how this adoption came to be. It was fun sharing our story and celebrating with all our friends from the first ward we lived in when we moved to Louisville. Thank you to everyone who came and partied with us and to Krystal Marks for hosting a great shower!
My friend Kathrine is the master crocheter and always makes the cutest things for baby showers! Love the sock monkey hats and little booties she made.
We played a diaper changing game to see who could diaper a stuffed animal the fastest. I was the runner up! Not bad considering I was one of very few that didn't already have children :) That will be a good skill to have with twins.
My second shower was about a week after the first and was hosted by my wonderful relief society president Vicki. This shower mostly consisted of friends from our current ward and I couldn't believe how many people came to support our growing family! I was blown away by everyone's generosity and felt so overwhelmed with gratitude. As with the previous shower I really wish I had taken a picture with all my guests, but I guess you live and you learn. Here are a few pictures I did get though from this shower.
Vicki had the cutest decorations! The shower looked like it was straight out of Pinterest! :)

You can tell how spoiled I was by the huge stack of tissue paper that Erin so kindly organized for me.
Love this wreath that my friend Lindsey made for Cade and McKay's room. Its hanging on their door and says "Welcome Home" in the middle.
As if those two showers didn't spoil us enough my coworkers planned a surprise baby shower the day before I went on maternity leave. I can usually figure out surprises but I had NO idea that they were planning this! Two of my coworkers came to the office and decorated after hours the night before so when I walked in I could be surprised.
This was the first thing I saw as I walked down the hall towards my desk.
My desk was decorated all cute
At this point I was pretty excited but still had no idea what was in store for me. I was thinking they just decorated and a few people brought presents but all throughout the day there were more and more surprises.
Around lunch time people started bringing out food and I realized that they had planned a big potluck! There was so much great food and really cute platters as well, like the fruit baby carriage and cute personalized sugar cookies.

As I was finishing eating a TON of my coworkers started bringing in gifts for me to open! I had no idea that so many people were involved in this surprise baby shower and was so excited to open all the wonderful gifts! We got some amazing things and lots of diapers and wipes. Thank you to all my wonderful coworkers!
Wish someone would have told me to at least look cute that day but whatever. Nothing like a wet ponytail and a ribbon to try to make yourself feel cuter! :)

Such a fun day!

Not to leave out all our friends and family in California and Idaho who have shipped us wonderful gifts and gift cards. We love you all too and wish we lived closer so we could have celebrated with you as well! We finally feel like we are ready for these babies and that's mainly due to our wonderful friends and family who have been so thoughtful and supportive.  We can't wait for everyone to meet the babies!
PS- They are coming next week! WOOHOO!

  1. <3 Love this! Aren't people wonderful? I think I would have cried - probably at all three showers! lol The kindness and generosity of others is wonderful. I'm so glad you are getting your babies and have had 3 wonderful showers. You (and they) deserve it!
